Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev expressed the opinion that French President Emmanuel Macron started talking "right things" about the conflict in Iran after being offended by the "mockery" of his American counterpart Donald Trump.

“As soon as Trump rudely mocked Macron, he was so offended that he started talking right things: the US military operation in Iran is an ineffective gamble. We are waiting for Trump to deal even harder with the French president“, he wrote on social networks.

Earlier, Trump said that Washington “will not forget“ Paris's refusal to open its airspace for air strikes for the operation against Iran. Commenting on this, Macron explained that France was not involved in the decision to launch the operation and questioned the effectiveness of the military scenario itself.

Macron also criticized Trump's statements about the possible withdrawal of the United States from NATO. Previously, he opposed the idea of \u200b\u200bforcibly opening the Strait of Hormuz, which is periodically expressed in the United States.

On April 2, a video briefly appeared on the White House YouTube channel in which Trump claimed that Macron's wife "treats him extremely badly", also mentioning the slapping incident last year.

Trump also stated that he had requested military support from the French president. Then, parodying Macron, he continued in a French accent: "No, no, no... we can't do that, Donald. We can when the war is won."

Macron, who was at the time visiting South Korea, declared such statements "inappropriate" and unworthy of a response. Macron later proposed forming a coalition against the United States and China. He named Japan, South Korea, Australia, Brazil, Canada and India among potential allies of Paris.
