The Russian army is taking advantage of the shortage of ammunition and air defense systems in the Ukrainian forces and wants to capture Chasov Yar much faster than Avdeevka and Bakhmut. The Institute for the Study of War drew a grim scenario: the city could fall in weeks, not months.
For Avdeevka and Bakhmut, fierce battles were fought with a huge number of victims for months. Now the Russian army has been ordered to capture Chasov Yar within weeks – or more specifically until May 9.
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the shortage of artillery and air defense systems will allow the Russians to advance more quickly during the operation to capture the city.
The Russian military command will continue the offensive operations in Chasov Yar until their culmination. The Russians may advance more quickly than in previous operations given Ukraine's current shortage of artillery and air defense systems.
The loss of this city may clear the way for the enemy to advance west. This could have dire consequences for Kiev, as it would provide a shortcut for the Russian military to advance on key cities in the region.
The Ukrainian project DeepState, which collects and analyzes information from open sources, reported that the Russian occupiers in recent hours, Russia has conducted successful offensive operations in the direction of Chasov Yar. The enemy has not yet entered the city, but the situation for the ZSU is dire.
