Panama's Electoral Authority declared Jose Raul Molino the winner of the country's presidential election based on preliminary results, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
Conservative Jose Raul Molino won yesterday's presidential election with 34% of the vote, 9 percentage points ahead of his nearest rival - former consul Ricardo Lombana, who admitted his defeat, the chairman of the Electoral Tribunal announced, quoted by France Press.
"I am pleased to inform you on behalf of the Electoral Tribunal that you have won the presidency" in Panama, Alfredo Junca said in a live televised phone call with Molino.
"I recognize the elected president of the Republic of Panama, José Raul Mulino,", the remaining second center-right Ricardo Lombana addressed his supporters.
