Ukraine's armed forces claim to have sunk a Russian warship. Their naval forces published a photo on the "Telegram" platform, in which the minesweeper "Kovrovets" from the composition of the Russian Black Sea Fleet was scratched with a red cross - a sign that it was destroyed, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.

"The Ukrainian Navy, together with its sister ships, is bringing us ever closer to victory," the online statement said.

DPA states that it cannot verify the information independently at the moment.

The Ukrainian Navy did not specify how and where the minesweeper was sunk. Ships of this class usually have a crew of 70 people, the agency notes.

Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine more than two years ago, the Ukrainian military has sunk several Russian warships. The use of combat drones and high-speed motor boats loaded with explosives has already forced the Russian Navy to transfer large and valuable warships from the occupied Crimean peninsula to the eastern part of the Black Sea, DPA recalls.
