The British Merchant Shipping Organization (UKMTO) announced today that the crew of a Palau-flagged cargo ship has been evacuated and the ship a fire broke out and it began to sink, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
The case is related to an incident on June 13 east of Yemen's Gulf of Aden.
On Thursday, missiles fired by the Yemeni Houthis hit the ship "Verbena" in the Gulf of Aden, caused a fire and seriously injured one of its crew members, US Central Command reported.
Since November, the Iran-allied Houthis have carried out dozens of attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea region in solidarity with the Palestinians in the war between Israel and Hamas. The Houthis' campaign in the Red Sea region has disrupted global maritime transport, causing delays and costs along supply chains.
