Iran denied "malicious" and "biased" accusations that have appeared in American media that Tehran is connected to the attempt to assassinate former American President Donald Trump, the spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Khanani, said today, reports Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA.
The Islamic Republic "vehemently denies any involvement in the recent armed attack against Trump … and believes that these allegations are politically motivated," Kanani said.
Iran's permanent mission to the UN previously called accusations against Tehran of a previous assassination attempt on the former US president "baseless" and "malicious".
CNN and the BBC said the Secret Service had stepped up security on Trump in recent weeks after receiving information about an alleged Iranian plot to kill him. The two American media referred to "unnamed sources familiar with the matter", DPA notes.
