Russian authorities early this morning reported a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack on Lipetsk region in southwestern Russia, about 200 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

"Lipetsk is exposed to a massive attack by drones," said the governor of the Lipetsk region Igor Artamonov, quoted by the Russian state agency TASS.

„Air defense is working against them”, the governor announced on his page in “Telegram”.

According to Artamonov, the fall of a drone caused damage to an energy facility and caused disturbances in the power supply.

Artamonov said there was a "detonation of dangerously explosive objects" away from civilian objects and added that rescuers were on the scene.

The Ukrainian news portal Kyiv Independent, referring to the pro-Russian channels “Telegram”, reported that during the night there were heavy explosions and fires in the Russian city of Rilsk in the Kursk Region.

The cause of the explosions is still unclear and the information provided by Russian authorities cannot be independently verified.

Initially there was no official confirmation of the attacks from the Ukrainian side.
