Ukraine is holding consultations with allied countries on the creation of an “air defense shield” over the western regions of the country, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov revealed after a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council. He recalled that these actions followed a massive attack by Russian troops, in which Moscow used over 200 missiles and drones, reports UNIAN, quoted by BTA.
„I informed my partners about the current situation regarding the supply of air defense systems and interceptor missiles. We need to strengthen our air defenses. We are continuing consultations, including in bilateral formats, on the creation of an “air defense shield”, the so-called “security belt” over the western regions of the country,“ he wrote.
The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense thanked the allies for the support provided and promised. He noted that more and more partners support the lifting of restrictions on the use of long-range weapons by the armed forces of Ukraine on the territory of Russia.
