German Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed serious concern over the fate of hostages and the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip during a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This was announced by a German government spokesman, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.
The chancellor stressed his hope that ceasefire talks would begin in the near future. According to the government spokesman, the two leaders also discussed the situation in Syria and regional security.
