Russian Air Defense Repel Ukrainian Drone Attack on Moscow

Domodedovo and Zhukovsky Airports Closed

The Air Defense Forces of the Russian Defense Ministry have shot down nine drones flying towards Moscow.

This was reported by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin on his Telegram channel.

"Emergency services specialists are working at the scene of the wreckage," the message says.

At the "Domodedovo" and "Zhukovsky" airports restricted takeoffs and landings of aircraft, the Federal Air Transport Agency reported.

“To ensure the safety of civil aircraft flights, temporary restrictions on their acceptance and release have been introduced at Domodedovo and Zhukovsky (Ramenskoye) airports,“ the statement said.

Previously, flight restrictions were introduced at Kaluga and Saratov airports.

Meanwhile, the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for the Moscow Region reported that a huge fire had broken out near Moscow.

"Garbage is burning in the open in the village of Safronovo in the Ramenskoye district of the Moscow Region. The area of the fire is 2 thousand square meters," the department reported. Fire and rescue teams are working at the scene.

The glow from the fire can be seen for several kilometers.
