Mediators from Qatar and Oman have been informed by Iran that Tehran will not negotiate a ceasefire with Israel while Israeli attacks continue, Reuters and Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA, citing sources directly familiar with the talks.
"The Iranians informed the Qatari and Omani mediators that they will only continue the talks after Iran completes its response to the Israeli preemptive strikes," the source said.
The source also denied reports that Iran had approached Oman and Qatar to mediate talks with the United States on a ceasefire with Israel or even to resume nuclear talks with Washington.
In recent months, Oman brokered nuclear talks between the US and Iran, although the latest round was called off a day after Israel launched a major air offensive against Iran.
In 2023, Qatar is brokering a prisoner swap agreement between Iran and the US, Reuters reported.
