Iraqi airspace to remain closed to passenger planes for at least another day

The Israeli military has detected a new missile salvo from Iran, the army press service reported, air raid sirens are also sounding in the vicinity of Tel Aviv.

According to the initial assessment of the military, this time a "insignificant number" of missiles were fired at Israel, writes The Times of Israel.

The Ynet portal reports that so far only one signal of shrapnel falling in one of the areas of the Negev desert in the southern part of the Jewish state has been received.

There are no reports of casualties. According to the national emergency service, only a few calls were registered after the shelling from people who were injured while running to bomb shelters.

At the moment, the army sees no threat of a second strike, and the population is allowed to leave their shelters.

Iraqi airspace will remain closed to passenger aircraft for at least another day, the Baghdad air traffic control service, which is responsible for air traffic over the country, announced.

The airspace will be closed until 3:00 Bulgarian time on Wednesday, Moscow time.

The possibility of flights to the airport of the city of Basra, located in the southeastern part of the country, which is periodically provided by the Iraqi aviation authorities, will be regulated by special notifications. For such flights, dispatchers have designated two corridors and, accordingly, two checkpoints for crossing the airspace from the Persian Gulf. “Rules for flights to Basra will be announced separately”, the service noted.
