The Ukrainian parliament has confirmed Ruslan Kravchenko as the country's new Prosecutor General. He is one of the main investigators of the alleged Russian war crimes committed during the occupation of the Kiev region in 2022, reports „Reuters“, reports News.bg.

The 35-year-old Kravchenko currently heads the State Tax Service, and previously headed the military administration of the Kiev region. He gained fame for his participation in the documentation and investigation of the atrocities in the town of Bucha - occupied by Russian forces for 33 days at the beginning of the invasion. Russia denies allegations of mass executions, rape and torture during its presence there.

Kravchenko also served as a prosecutor in the treason case against ousted President Viktor Yanukovych.

The position of Prosecutor General has been vacant since October 2024, after Andrey Kostin resigned. This came amid a scandal involving civil servants who obtained false disability documents to avoid mobilization.
