The Kremlin said on Wednesday that it was too early for anyone to have an accurate idea of the scale of damage caused to Iran's nuclear facilities by US bombings last weekend, „Reuters“ reported, quoted by News.bg.
When asked whether Russia had its own information on the extent of the damage, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov replied:
„No. I don't think anyone can have realistic data now. It's probably too early, we have to wait until such data appears.“
US President Donald Trump said over the weekend that the air strikes had „destroyed“ Iran's nuclear facilities.
However, three sources familiar with the matter told “Reuters“ that a preliminary U.S. intelligence assessment suggested the attacks had set back Tehran's nuclear program by only a few months.
Russia has condemned the strikes on Iran - with which it signed a strategic cooperation agreement in January - as illegal, unjustified and unprovoked.
Peskov added that Moscow had indications of open communication channels between Washington and Tehran. He stressed that Russia was closely monitoring the situation and maintaining a dialogue with the Iranian side.
