Israeli foreign intelligence agency Mossad will continue to operate in Iran after the war, its chief David Barnea said, quoted by DPA, BTA reported.
He addressed the agents in a rare video statement. "We will be there, as we have been there before", Barnea said, referring to operations on Iranian territory.
He credited the Mossad's actions for helping Israel achieve military goals that "previously seemed unrealistic". Israel is now "a more secure and stronger country, prepared for the future". The Israeli foreign intelligence chief also expressed his gratitude to "our partner, the CIA, for the joint work".
"I would like to tell you that everything is over, but we must not forget that there are still 50 hostages in the Gaza Strip - 30 dead bodies and 20 kidnapped alive - and it is our moral duty to return them," Barnea stressed.
The large-scale Israeli strikes on Iran are reportedly coordinated by the Mossad with the support of operatives embedded deep inside Iranian territory. These agents are said to have deployed and operated precision weapons and drones from inside the country, striking air defense systems and missile silos in central Iran.
During the conflict, Iranian authorities carried out a series of arrests, detaining numerous individuals accused of spying for the Mossad, DPA recalls.
