US intelligence agencies have become acquainted with the contents of a telephone conversation between Iranian officials, in which they noted that the US strikes on nuclear facilities in the Islamic Republic were not as powerful and destructive as expected, writes The Washington Post.

According to their sources, in this conversation “senior Iranian officials, when discussing the strikes carried out this month on components of the Iranian nuclear program, noted that the attack was less destructive than they had expected“. As the publication specified, Iranian officials, in particular, “discussed why the strikes ordered by President Donald Trump were not as destructive and extensive as they had expected“.

White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt called the publication “a leak of information taken out of context“.

“It is complete nonsense to think that unnamed Iranian officials know what happened hundreds of feet below the rubble. Their nuclear program is over“, she added. The publication also quoted a US official as saying: “One call from unnamed Iranians is not the same as an intelligence assessment that takes into account the full range of information received from multiple sources in multiple ways“.
