At least two firefighters were killed yesterday by a sniper in the US state of Idaho while fighting a forest fire, the local sheriff reported, quoted by AP and BTA.
„We already have two dead. There are also an unknown number of injured... We are currently under sniper fire,“ Kootenay County Sheriff Robert Norris told reporters. He said the shooter showed no intention of surrendering and urged police to take firm action if necessary: "We have to neutralize the threat." Idaho Governor Brad Little also condemned the attack, calling it a "heinous attack on our brave firefighters." He said it was a direct attack on people who save lives. Fire Chief Pat Riley said he was "heartbroken" by what happened.
