Slovakia has once again blocked the EU's adoption of the 18th package of sanctions against Russia. This happened on Friday in Brussels at the ambassadorial level, TASR news agency reported.
The Slovak government will veto the new anti-Russian sanctions by the EU until the issue of compensation for the republic and minimization of negative consequences for it from the ban on gas imports from Russia, proposed by the European Commission (EC) from January 1, 2028, is resolved.
Slovakia will continue consultations with the EC on the situation with obtaining energy raw materials in the event of a refusal to import from Russia.
The ongoing negotiations have not eliminated Bratislava's concerns about its own energy security, the agency added.
