Moscow is taking "quite calmly" criticism directed at US President Donald Trump by his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today, as quoted by Reuters.

"We are taking this quite calmly", Peskov replied to a reporter's question on the subject. "The style of phrases that Trump uses is quite sharp", the press secretary noted.

The American head of state accused the Russian leader of not responding to US efforts to reach a peace agreement with Ukraine, and announced that Washington would continue to support Kiev, Reuters recalls.

In addition, Peskov said that the Kremlin was not sure of the veracity of the material on the American television channel CNN, according to which Trump had previously threatened to bomb Moscow to deter Putin from attacking Ukraine.

The CNN report included an audio recording of Trump saying at a private donor gathering during his 2024 election campaign that he once warned Putin that he would "bomb Moscow" if Russia attacked Ukraine, Reuters notes.

Peskov said that there were "a lot fake“ news and is not sure if the recording is authentic.

According to CNN, Trump said he had issued a similar warning to Chinese President Xi Jinping regarding a possible Chinese invasion of Taiwan.
