European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the EU will broaden its partnerships with other countries in the wake of US President Donald Trump's tariff decision.
“In the meantime, we continue to deepen our global partnerships, firmly rooted in the principles of rules-based international trade“, the European Commission President said in a statement, following Trump's announcement that he would impose an additional 30% tariff on all European exports from August 1.
US President Donald Trump had earlier said that the US would impose a 30% tariff on goods from the European Union from August 1, while previously imposed sectoral tariffs would remain in place. The letter added that if the EU wanted to increase its tariffs on US goods, the US would add “this number” to its 30% tariffs on goods.
