Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian has admitted for the first time that the country made security lapses during the war against Israel, DPA reported today, BTA reported.

"The security lapses that became apparent during the war must be analyzed and eliminated," Pezeshkian said today at a cabinet meeting in Tehran, the official government daily "Iran" reported.

Such self-criticism is extremely rare in the authoritarian Islamic Republic, DPA notes.

During the 12-day war with Israel, several high-ranking Iranian military commanders were killed in their private homes. In addition to military and nuclear facilities, relatively unknown targets were also attacked, including a Holocaust-denying foundation in Tehran.

According to experts, such attacks would not have been possible without inside information, DPA reports.

For several weeks, speculation has been circulating about extensive cooperation between some elements of the Iranian security apparatus and the Israeli foreign intelligence service "Mossad".

Several people have already been arrested in connection with this for alleged spying for "Mossad".
