US Senate confirms former Fox News anchor as DC attorney general

Janine Piro to be acting attorney general since May

The US Senate has confirmed former Fox News anchor Janine Piro as DC attorney general, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.

She has been acting attorney general since May of this year, the AP reports.

President Donald Trump withdrew his initial nomination for permanent attorney general from Ed Martin Jr., who was acting attorney general before Piro. She was now selected by a 50-45 vote in the upper chamber of the US Congress.

Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee voted unanimously last month to support the former TV anchor's candidacy. The main argument in her favor is her much greater courtroom experience than Martin, notes the AP.
