During his general audience today, Pope Leo XIII called on the faithful to pray to God for peace in all countries of the world, the Italian news agency ANSA reported, BTA reports.
In his address to a group of Polish pilgrims, the pope recalled Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe, a Polish priest who sacrificed his life in the Auschwitz concentration camp.
„I encourage you to take as an example his heroic willingness to sacrifice for others. Through his intercession, pray that God grant peace to all peoples experiencing the tragedy of the war“, the Holy Father said.
The audience was held in the “Paul VI“ hall because of the extreme heat in Rome, Pope Leo XIII specified.
