Sergey Lavrov Arrives in Anchorage

Tonight is the long-awaited meeting between the presidents of Russia and the United States

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russian Ambassador to Washington Alexander Darchiev arrived in Anchorage, Alaska, to participate in the Russia-US summit, an informed source told TASS.

Face-to-face talks between Russian and American Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump are scheduled to take place in the city. They will take place on the territory of the Elmendorf-Richardson Air and Ground Base.

The summit will begin on August 15 at 10:30 p.m. Bulgarian time and will open with a one-on-one conversation, in which, apart from the leaders, only translators will participate. The central topic of the meeting will be the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, but Putin and Trump, according to the Russian side, will also touch upon “broader tasks of ensuring peace and security, as well as current and most pressing international and regional issues“.

The official Russian delegation to the summit includes Lavrov, Ushakov, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, and the Special Presidential Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, Head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev.
