Five forest fires have been registered in Albania in the last 24 hours, with three of them remaining active and two under observation. This was reported by the Albanian Radio and Television, citing information from the Ministry of Defense, BTA reports.
One of the fires continues to burn in the Birjita mountain near Tirana near the villages of Iba and Durisht. Due to the complex terrain, extinguishing the fire on the ground is impossible, but at the moment there is no danger to homes or forest areas.
Another active fire is in the area of the villages of Damian, Isufaj and Peza-Helmus (Central Albania). The outbreaks there are small, and the authorities are monitoring them until they are fully contained.
The third active outbreak is in the “Germen“ natural park in the municipality of Kolonja (southeastern Albania). The situation has been brought under control thanks to the actions of firefighters and rainfall since yesterday afternoon.
Several fires in villages in the municipality of Fus-Araz in northern Albania also remain under surveillance.
