British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said he was "outraged by the Israeli government's refusal to allow sufficient aid" to Gaza, announcing an additional 15 million pounds to fund medical aid in the region, BNR reported.

In an address to the House of Commons, David Lammy acknowledged the findings of the UN report on the famine in Gaza. The document states that "deliberately creating famine for military purposes is a war crime". Israel has criticised it as "deeply flawed".

The country's top diplomat also confirmed the government's commitment to bringing seriously injured children from Gaza to the UK for specialist treatment in the NHS, with the first patients due to arrive in the coming weeks.

In his statement, the foreign secretary called for a "large-scale humanitarian response" to prevent further deaths and to allow key NGOs, aid agencies and health workers to distribute aid supplies across Gaza's borders.

David Lammy also confirmed in parliament the UK government's commitment to move towards "full recognition" of a Palestinian state at the next UN General Assembly later this month, unless a breakthrough is achieved on the ceasefire.
