Qatar: We will not tolerate Israel's reckless behavior!; Trump: Netanyahu decided on the strike himself

German Chancellor condemns deadly attack on senior Hamas officials. Erdogan has unloaded on Qatar's head of state over Israel's attack

Qatar told the UN Security Council that it "will not tolerate this reckless behavior by Israel and the continued violation of regional security" after Israel carried out an airstrike on senior officials of the Palestinian Islamist movement "Hamas" in Doha, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

"Qatar strongly condemns this vile criminal attack, which constitutes a clear violation of all international laws and norms", Qatar's permanent representative to the United Nations, Alya Ahmed Saif Al Thani, said in a letter to the world organization's Security Council.

"Investigations are underway at the highest level and more detailed information will be released as soon as it becomes available," she added, calling the Israeli attack "a serious escalation".

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Israel's decision to strike Qatar was made solely by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, not by him, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA, citing a message from the Republican leader on social networks.

"The unilateral bombing of Qatar, "A sovereign nation and close ally of the United States, working very hard and courageously taking risks with us to broker peace, does not serve the goals of Israel or America," Trump wrote.

"Nevertheless, eliminating the Palestinian Islamist movement "Hamas", which has profited from the misery of the people living in Gaza, is a worthy goal," the American president added.

The White House described Israel's strike on Qatar as contrary to President Donald Trump's goal of achieving peace in Gaza, CNN reported, quoted by FOCUS.

"This morning, the Trump administration was notified by the U.S. military that Israel is attacking Hamas, which is unfortunately located in a part of Doha, the capital of Qatar," explained Caroline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, at a briefing.

Leavitt also said that Trump spoke with both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the attack, as well as with the emir and prime minister of Qatar.

Netanyahu "told President Trump that he wants to make peace and President Trump believes that this unfortunate incident can serve as an opportunity for peace," she added.

Leavitt emphasized that President Trump assured Qatar that "something like this will not happen again on their soil."

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz condemned last night's Israeli airstrike against senior figures in the Palestinian Islamist movement "Hamas" in Qatar, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

In a telephone conversation with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the German Chancellor described the violation of Qatar's sovereignty and territorial integrity as a result of the Israeli attack as "unacceptable", government spokesman Stefan Cornelius announced.

At the same time, the German Chancellor praised Qatar's mediation efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of Israeli hostages.

Merz warned that the war should not be allowed to spread to the wider Middle East region.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with Qatari Head of State Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in connection with Israel's attack on the Hamas negotiating delegation. in Doha, after which the Palestinian Islamist movement announced that its members had been killed, BTA reported.

"During the conversation, the Israeli attack on the Hamas negotiating delegation in Qatar and the general steps that will be taken against it were discussed", reads the official statement on the conversation by the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey.

Erdogan stressed that he condemns the Israeli attack, which violates Qatar's sovereignty, and which, according to him, aims to deepen the conflict, tension and instability in the region. The Turkish President expressed his condolences to the Qatari head of state for the deaths and assured him that Turkey will continue to support Qatar and the people of the country with all its capabilities.

During the conversation, the two leaders stated that they would continue to work together to end the killings in the Gaza Strip as soon as possible.

Erdogan earlier issued an official statement condemning the attack in Doha and emphasizing that Turkey will maintain its firm and decisive stance against Israel's actions, once again accusing Tel Aviv of wanting to drag the entire region into disaster.
