The hatred for Elon Musk, which he himself provoked, is reaching a new level. Previously, we have seen numerous cases of vandalism against other Tesla cars or those sold in showrooms, but now even the owners themselves want to get rid of them. Most simply sell them, but in one interesting case, a wealthy Tesla owner spared no expense.
Joan Wilson owns two Tesla cars, but sold one after Elon Musk showed his true colors. For the second car, she is considering a more dramatic option - allowing clients of her midtown Manhattan medical practice to vent their frustrations with the new administration and smash the electric car to pieces with hammers.
“We will hand out hammers and let people smash the car, we will film them for Instagram. These videos will definitely go “viral,” writes Joan Wilson.
The car's owner says she bought her first Tesla in 2014, when electric chargers were installed in her parking lot. She does not want to go back to gas-powered cars, but she also does not want to remain loyal to Musk's company anymore.
She already sees the billionaire as demonstrating “complete disregard“ for the people while “trying to completely destroy the federal government”. Wilson also calls him a “classic tech guy with no real understanding of how government works”.
Joan Wilson's partner, Fred, was one of the first investors in Twitter before the social network was ruined by Musk. It's clear that he no longer has a stake in the company, which may also have contributed to their impression of the Tesla CEO.
To get rid of their first Tesla, the two went to a Volvo dealership. There, they not only bought a new car, but also traded in their old one, receiving a $2,000 rebate in return.
“I went to Volvo to buy a new electric car and sell our Tesla. I've always loved Volvos. They don't break like tin. "Like most cars, they're built for Swedish winters," Wilson says.
While the car's owner is considering letting strangers destroy her Tesla, other Tesla haters are expressing their displeasure with Musk through obscene graffiti and arson attacks in various parts of the world, especially Europe. For example, 12 Tesla cars were burned in France, while a Molotov cocktail was thrown into the company's showroom in the United States.
