The Chinese division of Volkswagen has announced the release of a new version of the Lamando L GTS, which will appear in the model line for the first time. The premiere is expected to take place in about a month at the Shanghai Motor Show.
According to preliminary information, the new product will receive a 2.0-liter TSI turbo engine with a capacity of 220 hp and 350 Nm of torque. The engine will work together with a 7-speed robotic gearbox.
All this allows us to expect dynamic characteristics similar to the Volkswagen Golf GTI. Externally, the Lamando L GTS will feature dual exhausts, original rims and probably a more aggressive front bumper.
There is an option to install reinforced brakes and sports elements in the interior. For comparison, the regular Lamando L is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a capacity of 160 hp.
The model is produced at the SAIC-Volkswagen plant in China. The price of the base version starts at $21,000, while the sporty GTS version can reach $28,000, which makes it quite affordable for this class of car.
More details will be revealed during the official debut of the Lamando L GTS at the Shanghai Motor Show, but one thing is certain. This cheap version of the GTI will not be sold in Europe and, respectively, in our country.
