Automakers Stellantis and Leapmotor plan to invest $200 million in a plant in Zaragoza, Spain, where production of the new B10 electric crossover should begin in 2026.
Spain became the optimal choice for the implementation of this project due to the relatively low labor costs and generous government subsidies aimed at the development of clean technologies.
The companies are currently working to expand their network of local suppliers, which will help them receive maximum government subsidies for production.
Initially, the option of building a factory in Poland was considered, but the Chinese government advised Leapmotor to avoid investing in EU countries that maintain additional tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles.
This was a key factor in the decision to move production to Spain. In this way, Stellantis and Leapmotor want to strengthen their positions in the European electric vehicle market, adapting to changes in international trade and subsidy policy.
