The Ukrainian budget for 2026, approved by the Verkhovna Rada, provides for defense spending in the amount of 2.8 trillion hryvnia (66 billion USD). Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko announced this on her Telegram channel after the parliamentary session at which the budget was approved.
„Next year we will spend 2.8 trillion hryvnia on the army, which is almost 60% of all spending,“ she wrote.
The 2025 state budget initially included defense spending of 2.22 trillion hryvnia (52.6 billion USD). In July, the Rada adopted budget amendments increasing security and defense spending by 412 billion hryvnia to 2.63 trillion hryvnia (62 billion USD), and in October - by 325 billion hryvnia to 2.95 trillion hryvnia (69.9 billion USD).
