Poland may ban fuel sales to foreigners - 1

Poland may ban the sale of fuel to foreign citizens at its gas stations. Polish Energy Minister Milosz Motyka announced this possibility in an interview with RMF24 radio.

“We do not rule out a decision to restrict fuel sales to foreigners either in individual territories or throughout the country“, he said.

According to the minister, the government is closely monitoring so-called petrol tourism and does not rule out taking appropriate action “if the situation starts to get out of control“.

The world is currently experiencing “the biggest global fuel price crisis in over 50 years“ and Motyka believes that the crisis in the Middle East could worsen.

On March 31, the fuel price cap system in Poland, established by the Ministry of Energy, came into effect. Those found guilty of selling gasoline and diesel at higher prices face fines of up to 1 million zloty (approximately 270,000 USD).
