Kazakhstan consults with Hungary and Turkey on nuclear energy  - 1

Kazakhstan is interested in exchanging experience with Hungary and Turkey, where projects in the field of nuclear energy are being implemented. “Today, the nuclear industry is one of the promising vectors for the development of Kazakhstan's energy sector, which can, among other things, contribute to building the scientific potential of Kazakhstani specialists. In this regard, we are interested in exchanging experience with countries implementing projects in this area, in particular with Turkey and Hungary”. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Sungat Esimkhanov.

During the fourth meeting of energy ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), the participants discussed the state and prospects for the development of cooperation in the energy policy of the UTC countries, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan indicated. The organization includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan; Turkmenistan and Hungary participate in its work as observers.

A project for the construction of the Hungarian nuclear power plant Paks-2 is being implemented in Hungary under the Rosatom project. In Turkey, Rosatom is building the country's first nuclear power plant, Akkuyu.

On October 6, Kazakhstan will hold a national referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant in the republic. Kazakh authorities are considering several potential suppliers of nuclear technology - the Chinese company CNNC, the South Korean KHNP, Rosatom and the French EDF.
