The first plant of the German defense concern Rheinmetall has already started operating in Ukraine, and will soon be put into operation one more, announced the head of the concern Armin Paperger.
"The first plant is now ready. Here comes the second one. We have a manufacturing plant and a service plant”, Paperger said in an interview with the Ukrainian Television News Service (TSN).
According to him, the plant currently serves infantry fighting vehicles and tanks, but expects to assemble Lynx infantry fighting vehicles at the plant by the end of the year. According to Papperger, Rheinmetall owns a 51% stake in this enterprise.
He added that the concern also plans to build a gunpowder and ammunition plant in Ukraine and expects to start production of air defense systems. In total, according to TSN, Rheinmetall is building four factories in Ukraine.
Rheinmetall is the largest defense company in Germany. It benefits greatly from the conflict in Ukraine.
