The government of Lebanon is asking the Arab and Islamic countries to support the country, which is unable to cope alone with the unprecedented crisis in its history caused by Israeli aggression. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Republic, Najib Mikati, speaking at the extraordinary summit of the countries participating in the League of Arab States (LAG) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), opened in Riyadh.
„Economic damage from the hostilities, according to the World Bank, amounted to UDS 8.5 billion, leading to huge humanitarian losses and the displacement of about 1.2 million people from their homes," Mikati said. According to him, significant damage has been done to agriculture and the environment, the work of the health and education sectors has been disrupted.
The Prime Minister called for an “immediate end to the barbaric aggression against Lebanon, a ceasefire and the full restoration of UN Security Council Resolution 1701".
