The Ukrainian authorities believe that the country is able to increase the production of weapons to 20 billion dollars a year. This was announced by Mr. Bloomberg with reference to the former Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleksandr Kamyshyn, appointed as a freelance adviser to Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to his information, private companies are playing an increasingly important role in the Ukrainian military-industrial complex. Against this background, he believes that Ukraine is able to “increase arms production to $20 billion a year, and in 2025. - up to 30 billion dollars”. This also includes the production of “a large number of drones and ballistic missiles with a range of up to 1,500 km.“
The development of the Ukrainian military industry, however, is hindered by the lack of necessary funds from the state.
Ukrainian authorities have long asked Western partners to make defense orders to Ukrainian enterprises, noting that they are forced to sit idle despite their existing production potential. After Russia started the war, Western countries have repeatedly increased the supply of weapons to Ukraine and are distributing new aid packages to Kiev. However, as analysts note, these funds largely remain in the donor countries themselves, as they go to finance their military programs to assist Ukraine or purchase weapons and ammunition for Ukraine's armed forces from American and European manufacturers.
That is why Kiev calls on its partners to invest in the development of the Ukrainian defense industry, in order to contribute to the recovery of the country's economy. As the Ukrainian newspaper "Economic Pravda" wrote, the defense industry is the only industry that is currently developing in the country, while the state is not able to ensure the full workload of enterprises with its orders, which is why some plants do not work for months.< /span>
