Kazakhstan resumes imports of Russian wheat without restrictions - 1

Kazakhstan will not extend the restriction on imports of Russian wheat, which was introduced on August 21, until the end of the year. This was reported by the Kazakh agricultural portal Eldala.kz, citing data from the Ministry of Agriculture of the republic.

Imports of Russian wheat from January 1 will be carried out without restrictions. At the same time, the situation on the domestic market will be kept under control, and in case of imbalances, new regulatory measures are possible, the ministry announced.

"The issue of introducing any non-tariff measures to regulate imports in relation to wheat will be resolved taking into account the situation on the grain market, in particular: grain stocks, the level of demand and supply in the market, the need to protect the interests of local producers and take measures to combat gray imports and illegal re-export schemes“, the portal quotes a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture as saying.

Earlier, Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov announced that Kazakhstan had restricted the re-export of Russian grain to China and Uzbekistan from August until the end of the year.

Then, starting in October, Rosselkhoznadzor introduced a number of temporary restrictions on the import of wheat, lentils, tomatoes, peppers, melons, as well as cut flowers and buds from Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation.
