The head of the Anti-Corruption Commission Anton Slavchev has resigned, it became clear at the beginning of today's plenary session. He submitted an application to parliament on February 11.
His dismissal will be voted on today by the deputies.
The PP-DB have repeatedly demanded his resignation, they even tried to collect signatures for his dismissal in parliament, but without success.
The resignation is more of a formality, because at the end of January the deputies closed the Anti-Corruption Commission. However, Slavchev remains at the head of the Commission for the Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property. The two commissions are subsidiaries of the Anti-Corruption Commission, which the deputies divided into two three years ago, but never finalized the laws for them, nor did they fill out their composition. Slavchev was actually deputy chairman of the committee since 2018, but he led it since 2022 after the resignation of chairman Sotir Tsatsarov, recalls "24 hours".
In the agenda of today's meeting, the deputies also included ratification of an agreement with the Republic of North Macedonia for the construction of a railway cross-border facility.
At the proposal of GERB-SDF, the deputies will consider changes to the Social Security Code today at first reading.
The deputies extended the plenary time until the end of the legislative part, after which parliamentary control will begin.
