The profit from the Balkan Stream gas pipeline for 2025 reaches 560 million leva (286 million euros). This was announced by Energy Minister Traycho Traykov in response to a parliamentary question.

The total revenue from the project for the same year amounted to 570 million leva (291 million euros), which shows a significant financial result with relatively limited costs.

According to data from “Bulgartransgaz“, the main part of the revenue - 497 million leva (254 million euros) - comes from long-term contracts for capacity reservation for a period of 20 years. They were concluded within the framework of the pan-European Open Season procedure. An additional 73 million leva (37 million euros) were generated by offering free capacity on the interconnections.

The costs of operating the infrastructure for 2025 amount to 9.8 million leva (about 5 million euros). They include materials, security, electricity, personnel, insurance and local taxes.

„Balkan Stream“ is the Bulgarian extension of „Turkish Stream“ - a project that transports natural gas from Russia through the Black Sea to Turkey and from there to Europe. The pipeline has two lines with a capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters per year - one for the Turkish market and the other for the countries of Southeastern and Central Europe.
