A truck driver intentionally stopped in the Sofia-bound tube of the "Vitinya" tunnel on the "Hemus" highway today before noon and obstructed traffic on the last day off for Easter. This is reported by the RIA. The Road Agency also added that the driver of the vehicle stopped in the tunnel and upon the arrival of the road maintenance company teams refused assistance in being pulled out of the tunnel.
According to data from the Ministry of Interior-Sofia, the driver of the TIR refused to allow law enforcement agencies to move or provide access to the vehicle. This led to the intervention of police officers in order to restore traffic on “Hemus“ and not to impede the travel of all other drivers.
The driver has been detained by the Ministry of Interior, and the “Automobile Administration“ is beginning an inspection of the transport company's activities.
The state will respond with all its strength to any provocation and will not allow Bulgarians to become hostages, the RIA is categorical.
