Martin Dimitrov: Assen Vassilev single-handedly split PP and DB - 1

Assen Vassilev single-handedly split "We continue the change" (PP) and "Democratic Bulgaria" (DB), even though he was warned that this was a serious mistake. This was stated by the MP from "Democratic Bulgaria" Martin Dimitrov. According to him, the decision to separate the two formations was a political choice of the PP leadership, and DB insisted that it not be undertaken. This was reported by the press center of "Yes, Bulgaria" for FOCUS.

"We told him that it was a mistake. We told him not to do it. We told him that we received a common mandate from the voters and that it is not good to split now," Dimitrov pointed out. According to him, despite the warnings, Assen Vassilev remained firm in his decision. "He did it. From now on, there is no point in living in dramatic moods. We must move forward", he added.

According to him, the leader of the PP has chosen a different political direction. "He has obviously decided to create a modern left and believes that separation will give him a better chance for this", the MP added on the subject.

Dimitrov stressed that after this development, "Democratic Bulgaria" must clearly take its own path and establish itself as a strong right-wing political force. According to him, the formation has the opportunity to fill the vacant right-wing space and represent voters who expect clear economic reforms, low taxes and a categorical European orientation.

In his words, "Democratic Bulgaria" should establish itself as a clear right-wing formation and be the main pro-European opposition to Rumen Radev.

According to him, on the first day of the new parliament, actions were seen that show political convergence between Radev, Borisov and Peevski. Martin Dimitrov used as an argument that Radev directly helped Peevski to have a deputy speaker in the National Assembly, and a little later GERB and MRF approved the candidacy of Mihaela Dotsova for speaker of the 52nd National Assembly.

"From today, something is happening to Rumen Radev that I think he has not yet realized, that the enormous responsibility is already on his head." Martin Dimitrov emphasized that the leader of "Progressive Bulgaria" must now bear the real burden of governing, forming a cabinet and fulfilling his promises, including not raising taxes.

According to him, Radev is facing a difficult and complex task, and support for him will likely decrease in the future. "Next winter will be an exceptional test for Rumen Radev and his government", the MP from "Democratic Bulgaria" said.

Dimitrov continued that the biggest test for Radev will be the budget. He warned that the deficit is serious and in order to prevent taxes from increasing, large-scale reforms, spending cuts and quick decisions will be needed by July.

Dimitrov questioned the readiness of the people around the president to cope with the task. "I don't know if they have even a single ready-made bill", he commented and emphasized that from "Democratic Bulgaria" have already submitted specific proposals to support business and optimize the administration.

"Without reforms, limiting spending and stimulating the economy, Bulgaria risks accumulating large debt and repeating the Romanian and Greek scenarios of uncontrolled problematic spending," concluded Dimitrov.
