Arch. Petkana Bakalova: The private children's hospital took away access to health care for children with poorer parents - 1

The decision of the Council of Ministers to build a private children's hospital put the children of Bulgaria at risk, arch. Petkana Bakalova - member of the Board of the Alliance for High Construction Culture.

"We all know that there is an extreme shortage of health professionals - pediatricians, pediatric nurses. The private hospital that was announced with 400 beds practically had the volume and parameters of the National Children's Hospital that we want to be built. In this case, the right of children with parents who cannot afford private health care to access health care was literally being taken away," she explained.

In her words, the choice of location is extremely important when it comes to a children's hospital. Arch. Bakalova noted that the environment directly affects the healing process and is extremely important, especially for children.

She announced the international conference "Professional tasks of architects and engineers to create a quality living environment". Arch. Bakalova explained that the high construction culture is a tool for achieving a quality living environment.

In her words, it has its influence on the health status of society, but also on people's emotions. A tidy and clean environment creates the feeling of security and order, she specified.

"Harmony itself, when there is more nature, better quality materials, a more beautiful environment - it affects people's emotions, the sense of life perspective, their motivation. It also directly affects the economy, because a motivated, energetic, optimistic person is much more productive in their activities every day. The truth is that what happened in Bulgaria in recent years, I can't use any other word than a catastrophe.

In her words, the neglected facades, broken sidewalks and streets create a feeling of hopelessness, meaninglessness, powerlessness, helplessness.
