The traffic jams are monstrous. Thousands of cars pile up, jam the surrounding neighborhood streets, pollute the air, children are late for school, people for work, public transport is delayed. The surrounding neighborhoods are under siege. I wrote an article about what will happen in June”.
This was stated by Kaloyan Metodiev, an independent representative in the 50th National Assembly. This morning there was a live switch-on under the bridge with Deputy. - the mayor of Sofia Ivan Vassilev and the head of API Yordan Valchev. He talked to both of them on the spot.
„The bridge was repaired in 2019! It has been repaired without documents! There is no one to blame! No one is responsible! I don't care about their bureaucratic bickering. I protect the interests of my constituents. I want actions and solutions!“, said Kaloyan Metodiev.
In his social media post, he added:
„The southern part of a million-strong city was blocked for five months because of one column. The citizens of Sofia are poisoned, delayed, blocked. During the same time, in every other country, multi-level bridge facilities, highways, overpasses are being repaired… Total cut with one concrete column.
I told them there would be protests and shutdowns if they didn't let the traffic go. This is no longer tolerated. I have also spoken with other MPs to start real actions.
The head of the API assured me that he will release the traffic as soon as he receives permission from the regional minister Koritarova. I urge her to immediately grant permission and help alleviate the suffering of the people in the southern part of Sofia.
