On St. George's Day: The National Museum of Military History opens its doors and serves bean soup prepared by a military cook  - 1

The National Museum of Military History (NMMH) and this year will celebrate the holiday of the Bulgarian Army on May 6 with free entry for visitors to its permanent chronological and external exhibition.

From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the temporary exhibitions “Army in a time of change“, “Scars of war: the lost architectural heritage of Sofia“ and to the most recent one, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Bulgaria's membership in NATO.

Slaveya Surcheva from NVIM informs that the special program will be opened at 11:30 a.m. with a concert by the Representative Brass Orchestra of the Ground Forces.

At lunchtime, one of the favorite attractions for young and old is scheduled –a tasting of the iconic bean soup, prepared by a military chef. Visitors will have the opportunity to see up close a modern field kitchen and touch the everyday life of soldiers, BNR reported.

In good weather, the most curious will be able to enter the control booths of some of the most iconic exhibits in the outdoor exposition – Mi-2, Mi-8 helicopters and the "Luna-M" missile complex.

"Thousands come every year on this date. It is our pleasure and joy. In the two courtyards of the museum there are 270 examples of military equipment. It is interesting for both children and adults", Surcheva also emphasized.

NVIM branches will also open their doors on the holiday – The Naval Museum and Park-Museum “Vladislav Varnenchik“ in Varna and the Aviation Museum in Krumovo, near Plovdiv.
