Dimitar Glavchev acted extremely honorably. Kiril Vatev, former Minister of Agriculture, said this to BNR on the occasion of his release from the caretaker government.
"My shift was pre-arranged with him. I asked him to be replaced if one condition is not met". However, Vatev did not want to indicate what exactly it was.
"He said: "Better to learn it from me than from the media. What we were talking about cannot happen. That's why I release you.
Acad. Denkov advised me not to stay in the caretaker government, because he looked at things more politically, and I – more technological and marketable, the former Minister of Agriculture also explained.
"I had the freedom to attract people of my choosing. I accepted them with complete trust, but two of them abused him", Kiril Vatev also pointed out, but did not want to name them.
The person who took my place in the ministry is a pleasant surprise - I worked wonderfully with Georgi Takhov, he pointed out.
"You won't see me in the paper, you won't see me in politics at all. I'm staying in the non-governmental sector," said the former minister.
Vatev believes that two of the four protests that took place in front of the Department of Agriculture during his administration were "absolutely artificial and led by avowed sub-seed growers".
"They were assisted. I don't want to reason from whom".
Food independence, according to the former Minister of Agriculture, is the factor that will solve the problems with the so-called "sub-breeders".
"This country is extremely fertile and has incredible producers, but they don't go to protests and don't shout. They don't even apply for subsidies, but they are on the market and developing.
He indicated that he is dealing with the organization of an agrarian forum, which will be held on May 31, and in which eminent Bulgarian scientists from all over the world will take part. The topic will be "Building a sustainable agro-food system".
"If imports stop due to some crisis, in three months there will be famine here. We cannot import 80% of fruits and vegetables. The potential that Bulgarian production has is huge, but we are not developing it. The interest is in a subsidy, not a product.
Vatev analyzes the obstacles to the adoption of the Law on Branch Organizations.
"For 31 years, Bulgarian politicians have not allowed such a bill to enter, be discussed and adopted. No political interest. Such a bill will make trade organizations real and effective.
However, we have established advisory boards across the entire agri-food chain. I don't like that we are splitting into agriculture and processing. It is an inextricably linked chain.
The former Minister of Agriculture also commented on Simeon Karakolev's insistence before the BNR that Vatev be asked what he did for the cooperatives.
"Cooperatives are built by enterprising entrepreneurs. There is no way the state can make them for you.
Branch organizations in a small part, where they are most active, have been degenerated by party bias and subsidies, Vatev believes.
"They are harmful to the agro-food chain and are a prerequisite for hunger in a severe crisis.
Bulgaria must accept its food independence as a national priority, he stressed.
