A plan for reorganizing the movement of trains traveling through the Sofia and Sofia-North stations was ordered by the Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeikov. This happened during a meeting today with BDZ and NKŽI in connection with the long delays of trains in Sofia in recent days.
The Minister of Transport has ordered that all difficulties be removed by Monday at the latest and that traffic be switched to a normal regime. “Provide the railway stations with teams to provide timely information and support the organization of passenger movement,” Gvozdeikov also stated.
The two companies informed the minister that all options are currently being considered to change the timetable so that railway passengers are not left without transport, despite the restrictions due to the repair works.
From the beginning of the week, the most active phase of the repair of the tracks of the Sofia Central Railway Station began, which includes a number of activities and this is the reason for the created difficulties. BDZ emphasized that when the new traffic organization was introduced on May 7, the goal was not to cut trains, but the schedule optimization in a minimal volume is ahead.
