Rumen Radev to North Macedonia: Agreements must be implemented - 1

Bulgaria does not accept statements and behavior that contradict both the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation of 2017 y., as well as other international treaties that the Republic of North Macedonia (RCM) has signed. This is stated in the position of President Rumen Radev, distributed by the press office of the head of state, on the occasion of the completed election campaign in the RSM and the inauguration ceremony of the new president of the country.

Bulgaria has repeatedly and clearly stated its position that the contracts must be implemented, President Rumen Radev notes. He recalls that the RSM is a NATO member country, from which the corresponding obligations and responsibilities arise.

I am convinced that the European perspective of the RSM depends on the strict implementation of the international treaties to which it is a party, as well as on the negotiating framework approved by the European Council in July 2022, which, for the information of the responsible institutions in the RSM, will not be revised, adds Rumen Radev.

The State Election Commission (SEC) of North Macedonia announced after a meeting on May 11 the final official results of the elections for the president and new parliament of the country held on May 8.

Gordana Siljanovska Davkova has been elected president of the Republic of North Macedonia with a majority of voters - 561,000 votes against 251,899 for her opponent Stevo Pendarovski, announced the chairman of the SEC, Aleksandar Daštevski.
