Evelin Banev - Brendo, who surrendered to the Bulgarian authorities on Monday, entered Bulgaria in the spring of 2022. This was announced from the parliamentary rostrum by acting interior minister Kalin Stoyanov, quoted by BNT.
. Stoyanov added that this information in the Ministry of the Interior is related to the circumstances surrounding the plane, which passed through several European countries, landed temporarily and briefly at an airport near Vidin, reloaded and landed in the area of Targovishte.
This happened at the time when Boyko Rashkov was Minister of Internal Affairs, pointed out Stoyanov, who was then director of the Main Directorate "Fighting Organized Crime".
"The two people who were near this aircraft have been identified. Sufficient evidence has been gathered against them, they have been charged and our information is that they are looking for a plea deal. In parallel, the GDBOP has launched an investigation into a criminal group that deals with such illegal flights, mainly for the purpose of smuggling. And these two people are part of this group," commented Kalin Stoyanov and added that they were detained a month ago.
