A Bulgarian reached the semi-finals of the competition for the best chef in England. His name is Asen Ibrov. He was born in Shumen and arrived in London 10 years ago. He did it not to pursue a career, but to be with the girl he loves. However, his passion for cooking pushes him to constantly improve what he learned at the College of Public Catering in his hometown, and thus he reaches the semi-finals of the “National Chef of the Year in England” competition, to which only 40 people are admitted.
Turning an entire shop salad into one bite, or as it is known in gastronomy, amuse bouche. This is the challenge with which Asen Ibrov presents his Bulgarian roots at the final in the prestigious culinary competition in London, Nova TV specifies.
"The criterion for the final was very interesting because we were obliged to choose a summer amuse bouche or prepare a dessert. Of course I chose the amuse bouche. Amuse bouche means delight of the mouth. It's a small bite through which, when you try it, different flavors explode and make you feel like you're in the heaven of different flavors," says Chef Asen Ibrov.
In the first round of the competition, in which dozens of professional chefs participate, he presents himself with a starter of fish with smiljan beans and lamb with köpoolu. For the upcoming final, he is again betting on something of ours. "I chose to prepare and deconstruct our shop salad because it brings back many memories of my friends, my family and my grandmother, who taught me how to grow tomatoes, cucumbers, how to make homemade cheese, yogurt Similarly. Shop salad best represents me, who I am and where I come from. The criterion was to describe ourselves through this bite," says Ibrov.
Last year he came second in a famous lamb cooking competition in London, and for the first time he tried to participate in the national chef competition of England.
