Emil Georgiev: The decision of the Constitutional Court on the changes to the Constitution can open Pandora's Box **** T - 1

"Tomorrow /b .r. today/ The Constitutional Court will announce its decision on the challenge to the amendments to the Constitution - we will see the operative part of the decision - declares it unconstitutional or rejects it. And in a few days we will see the reasons".

This was stated by lawyer Emil Georgiev in the studio of "Denyat ON AIR".

He specified that 15 days is the deadline for publication in the State Gazette of the decision and the reasons.

"The question is that they are not written in advance and that we are watching theater. Desislava Atanasova, if she participates in the decision-making, must vote "for" or "against", cannot "abstain", the lawyer clarified.

On the air of Bulgaria ON AIR, the guest stated that the decisions of the Constitutional Court are accepted by a majority, which is a minimum of 7 out of 12 votes. And if the votes are 6 to 6, the contested decision remains unchanged.

Lawyer Emil Georgiev commented that the changes in the Constitution were aimed at strengthening the independence of the court, after until now "a political quota has been crushing the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC)".

"If the Constitutional Court puts a cross on the reform, it will completely destroy it, it will say to those who expect an independent court - "sorry, there is no such thing for you, you will have a politicized court", because the body that decides who advances the judiciary is highly politicized," the lawyer from "Justice for Everyone" also said.

The guest added that if the Constitutional Court ruled in favor of the Grand National Assembly, it should be borne in mind that once convened, it "can change absolutely everything". Therefore, according to him, one should consider whether to open "Pandora's Box".
